What it does
Through a short, structured set of questions, the Promotion Readiness Check helps employers evaluate whether an employee is prepared for the responsibilities of a proposed role. It surfaces decisions that may rely on strong current performance, tenure or reputation without enough evidence of readiness for what comes next.
The tool covers moves from individual contributor to team lead, team lead to manager, and manager to more senior roles.
What the tool evaluates
The Promotion Readiness Check uses AI to evaluate key areas that affect promotion readiness, including:
Clarity of the proposed role and how it differs from the employee’s current responsibilities
Demonstrated skills and behaviors relevant to the new role
Readiness gaps and risks associated with the added responsibilities
Defined expectations and measures of success
Transition support, including training, coaching and check-ins
Business timing and the impact on the team
Overall confidence in promotion readiness
How it works
Based on your answers, you will receive a Promotion Readiness Check Assessment by email. It highlights gaps, inconsistencies and risk areas, and identifies where additional evidence, clarity or planning may be needed before moving forward.
The assessment does not approve or reject a promotion. It helps you understand how well-supported the decision is today.
This tool is especially useful when:
An employee is moving into their first leadership role
Strong performance in the current role is the primary reason for the promotion
The new responsibilities or success measures are not clearly defined
Multiple employees are being considered and you need a consistent framework for evaluating readiness
There is pressure to promote quickly to retain an employee or fill a business gap
The Promotion Readiness Check is designed to surface gaps before a commitment is made. If the assessment identifies elevated risk, pause to address those gaps before announcing the promotion.
This tool provides HR guidance and risk awareness, not legal advice. It does not authorize a promotion, title change or pay change. Final decisions remain with the employer.
