What it does
Through a short, structured set of questions, the Termination Readiness Check evaluates key factors that commonly create legal, compliance, or employee relations issues when separations are handled without enough preparation. This includes the employee’s role, tenure, work location, classification, documentation history, and the stated reason for termination. This tool will help you assess whether an employee termination is appropriate, defensible, and ready to proceed.

What the tool evaluates
• Documentation and performance history
• Consistency with past actions
• Timing and recent employee activity
• Role, tenure, and protected status considerations
• Communication and process gaps

How it Works

Based on your responses, you will receive a follow-up risk assessment email that details potential exposure areas and flags where additional steps, documentation, or caution may be warranted. The goal is not to decide whether you should terminate, but to help you understand the risk associated with how and when you do it.

This tool is especially useful when:
• You are unsure whether documentation is sufficient
• The termination follows performance, conduct, or attendance concerns
• The employee has recently raised complaints, requested leave, or sought accommodations
• You want a second set of eyes before a high-impact decision

The Termination Readiness Check provides insight, not legal advice. Final decisions always remain with the employer.

Why HRIS does not do this
HRIS processes terminations after the decision is final. It does not assess risk before action is taken.
